We finally made our way to our last stop of the tour, Derby. We were playing as a part of a folk festival at a venue called Mr Shaw’s House, it’s a lovely venue in the centre of Derby and everyone there was really great. We playing along with two other solo acts ‘Wandering Nomad’ and ‘Graveyard Cop’, who managed to play covers of both Elliot Smith and Radiohead. We played our set and everyone listened, including the security guard who invited us to his house music party in Derby this month... which we had to unfortunately decline. We finished, packed up our stuff and finally made our way to our accommodation, which was the worst we’ve had all tour, maybe ever, but you’ll have to ask us about that in person, otherwise we won’t have anything interesting to tell you. 

The UK tour is done. I’m glad we made it through and that I got to see so many great new places and play with my best friends. Over and out.

Our train to Cleethorpes took us straight to the seaside. We walked along the promenade and right on the seafront was a small café/venue called the living room. We were playing with Owen who performed solo on an acoustic guitar. We played a quieter set without the drummachine and synthesiser. We are all very tired, both physically but also mentally. Our days are filled with travelling and organising and sometimes the total amount of music you get to do in a day on tour is so small that it can be frustrating. We made it through though and everyone in Cleethorpes was very lovely and supportive. We got fish and chips and mushy peas as well as a veggie breakfast in a local café the next morning. We ended the trip in the arcades, trying to use up our pennies in the machines where you try and get the 2p coins to drop down... we managed to win one lolly pop. We also played a game of Snakes and Ladders on the seafront, Mára vs. Pája, Mára vs. Iris, Iris vs. Pája, Mára vs. Pája’s Nokia brick phone.

Here's Weeping Town from The Living Room, Cleethorpes (08/10/2026). I had to choose this one, because it's the first time we've played it in a year or more.

We took a two hour train to Manchester and went straight to a Vietnamese restaurant to get some healing vegan Pho, which was delicious and soothed my dodgy throat. We then headed for a slice of pie (this late in the tour, treats are essential for us getting through the tiredness) and a cup of tea. We were playing at The Peer Hat which is a fantastic venue with a rowdy upstairs bar and a room downstairs for shows. Nick, who was the booker was a fantastic person and as soon as he arrived told us he had organised a show for a band called Slow Loris, only then to realise he was meant to be booking a band called Slow Slow Loris. Every one there was really lovely, sound techs and bar staff included and we felt right at home. We were playing with two bands, first a duo called Kazimi, who played jazzy electro tracks and second a band called Dogviolet, which the singer told me is a flower that has no smell. Dogviolet were really great, a four piece from London, guitar, drums, bass and a fantastic singer. They also had great merch, with their own zines about their writing/recording process. Our set went pretty well despite my vocal limitations, but the adrenaline kicked in and I got through it somehow. Manchester is a great city and we especially appreciated the free bus that ran all the way to our hostel near the science museum. Next stop: British Sea Side Town: Cleethorpes. (Nick spent 10 minutes listing various seaside towns to us and told us which ones are the most to least depressing, I think Cleethorpes got a relatively good rating though.)

Here's an acoustic version of The Lamb from The Peer Hat, Manchester (07/10/2026).

For the first time this tour, we got the train from Sheffield to Hull. We were playing at a legendary Hull venue called ‘The Polar Bear’. It opens twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It’s an amazing building with a huge circular bar in the middle and they have a DJ playing songs in between each set, while also introducing and hyping up each band, which was great. Everyone there was incredibly lovely. We were playing with three other bands and had the penultimate slot. I’ve been progressively getting more and more ill as the tour continues but somehow, through the power of lemsip, I’ve been managing to play each show in the evening... this show was a hard one but we made it. We went back to our accommodation and finished our night with instant noodles and stir-fried vegetables from the 24-hour Sainsbury’s.

Here's Sheffield Song (a composition that we wrote last year, performed for the first time on Monday and gave it this working title in the hotel room) obscured by the sound of people having a drink in Polar Bear Music Club, Hull (06/10/2026).

After taking two lovely days off in Nottingham visiting my aunt, eating lovely food and visiting Goose Fair, we took the bus to Sheffield. The driver of our Flixbus was this amazing guy from New Zealand who invited people to come and sit in ‘First Class’ at the front of the bus so that he had someone to talk to. We arrived in Sheffield and headed for the Sidney and Matilda, it’s a venue that has shows most nights and had a great atmosphere as well as a great sound technician Daniel who was brilliant. For dinner, from the recommendations of the Sheffield based band Ye Woodbeast (who we didn’t play with but are great you should check them out), we went to the Rutland Arms and had some amazing vegan food, including a kimchi and cauliflower butty, loaded chips with mushrooms and a stuffed pepper. They also had lots of Czech beers and the whole place was filled with amazing bric-à-brac. We played with two bands ‘The Harlettes’ who were from Manchester and ‘Monqi’ from Sheffield, both were great. Overall the show was the most well attended and well received of the tour, so we came off stage with a nice feeling and a lovely impression of Sheffield. Hopefully we will be back someday.

Here's Right Way Up from Sidney and Matilda, Sheffield (05/10/2026). At one point the sequencer tried imposing another song on it, hence the funny mashup in the first verse for a bit.

Bristol! We arrived and were picked up by Roland who would be putting us up. Roland and Ruthie have an incredible house filled with musical instruments, Edward Lear illustrations and many many books. They treated us to a lunch of mushroom soup and then fish and chips for tea. We went for a walk around Bristol, visiting the suspension bridge as well as walking around the city centre. Our gig was at a venue called The Ill Repute a music venue/bar, similar to Hereford. After arriving we quickly realised that there was no sound technician, so Pavel had to do everything. We were playing with El Knight who had a great set and a great voice. Our set was a bit livelier than usual as we had to cut through the sounds emitted by Friday night party goers who had come to the bar more so to enjoy the ambience than to listen to a concert. Overall it was a fun show to play and meeting Roland and Ruthie, as well as David who had put us in touch with them was a highlight of our stay. So thanks to them and time for us to take two days off in Nottingham.

Here's a cover of Adrianne Lenker's Free Treasure from The Ill Repute, Bristol (02/10/2026)

The coach to Hereford ended up taking five hours from London. We spent the time reading, listening to podcasts and writing the last post as we passed through the Cotswolds on our National Express coach. We made it to ‘The Jam Factory’ where we were greeted really warmly by our sound tech Alex. The venue was half-bar-half-venue and whatever was on stage played to the rest of rooms through speakers. The first band played a mix of covers and originals, including a Laura Marling cover which I appreciated. The other band was called Dead Elvis and after finishing their set they all left, including the first band and there ended up being more people on stage than in the audience... there’s three of us, so go figure ! We had a lovely chat to Alex about beer and trains (the two ideal Czech conversations) and even had a non-alcoholic beer from ‘Vinohradský Pivovar’. Our accomodation was lovely and our host told us that she’s been listening to our band all day, that she wanted to come to the concert but had to look after her dog Lulu. Lulu was very sweet so we completely understood, although it would have doubled the size of our audience. Onto Bristol next.

Here's a little reckless and drawn-out version of Red from The Jam Factory, Hereford (01/10/2026)

On Wednesday we played in London. We played at the Sebright Arms, a lovely old pub with a music venue downstairs. For me it was a strange experience, returning to the city I grew up in, to play a show for the first time there after 7 years of being in the Czech Republic. It was a great show and it was so lovely to see so many old friends, all from different times in my life. We played with Celeste Madden and her band, who played a great set and had a theremin which is always a plus in our books. We also met Robert, who saw us play in Pilsen some time ago and had ordered our vinyl to the UK but it never came. We were able to hand deliver the album and he gave us three beers from his micro-brewery, which was very sweet. All in all, London was lovely and we can’t wait to come back again. Thanks to everyone at the Sebright and to Scream and Shout for putting on the show.

Before we went on our first tour abroad in February of last year I set out a task of recording every show of ours. Of course it lasted only for mere month or two as I didn't have the time/energy/patience to set up a small field recorder at every gig as the soundchecks were often rushed and there were other more important things to take care of.

I thought that as we embark on this small acoustic tour around the UK, it's just the three of us and a lot less gear so I might as well have a chance to – once again – try and record every show of ours. We'll see how long it's going to last this time. I'll try and select one song after every show and put it up here for you to listen to. Warning: these are going to be rough recordings, full of people talking over the music, our mistakes, weird acoustics and whatnot...

Last weekend we travelled to Moravia to play a gig in Bystřice pod Hostýnem. We played with a band called Tajíledy and performed in a chateau, palace type place. Everyone there was really sweet and although we played in a tunnel, which was acoustically challenging, I think it turned out well; we even managed to play our cover of ‘Come On Let’s Go’ by Broadcast after a long time which was nice. After the show we went to a local bar called Dodo and on the way there came up with the tongue twister ‘dědo, jedeme do doda dodávkou’. We were searching for a hermelín (pickled cheese) but ended up just snacking on nuts and olives, while Kuba and Slajmer went on a search (unsuccessfully) for some other food. It was great talking to everyone there, they took a hold of the speakers in the pub and so we listened to some tunes before we headed to our hotel.

Our hotel was AMAZING, it was as if it was stuck in time, from the interior design to the small butler who wore a red waistcoat and seemed to talk in riddles...

I wanted to write down some impressions from our trip to Ljubljana where we played and attended the MENT showcase festival. After the Christmas gig in Prague we entered a two month break to have some time for ourselves and recharge our batteries, as they say. We really needed it!

We got together last week for two rehearsals that were fun, we refamiliarized ourselves with our own songs, reworked the chorus of one of our new songs and even had a couple of great jams. On Thursday morning we left Prague pretty early because the drive to Slovenia takes almost eight hours....
